I got these as a Christmas gift and absolutely love them. They are a replacement for my De-Walt 14.4 XBR drill which failed last summer. The L-ion batteries and drill are very light but you lose no power; in fact, I’d put this set on par wit the De-Walt they replaced. You won’t be sorry.

4 Stars Overall, great drill for home projects
I bought this drill with the impression that the battery wouldn’t last long between charges. This is somewhat accurate…but they do charge up in about 20 minutes. Prior to buying the kit, I read in a review that the torque of the drill is maintained right up until the batteries die. This turned out to be very true. The included Case is square and very corny looking….doesn’t quite match the stylish drills..but it does have ample room for the 2 drills, batteries, charger and 1-2 of your own drill bit cases. Only had it for a month and so far used it for setting new kitchen cabinets, and sheet rocked a bedroom. My only gripe would be that if you are a lefty, the reverse button can accidently be triggered because it sticks out on the left side of the handle.

5 Stars Awesome I absolutely Love it!
Im in the Audio, Video industry installing TV’s, Home Theater’s, Sound systems home automation etc…… I bought this kit as my old Ryobi set was going and I was on a job site and a contractor lent me this impact driver and on the way home I purchased this. I have to say this is the best drill set I have ever owned! we, all the time are having to modify cabinets, walls and alot of building custom enclosures to house our touch screens throughout the home or business and this makes light work of it. We also do alot of outdoor speaker mounting and using Tapcons to hold the speakers up, this tool has shaved so much time off of mounting them.

Battery life is excellent & with heavy use throughout the day we change the batteries out once. The 15min charge time is awesome! working with it all day doesn’t cause fatigue like my old ryobi and dewalt set did. The LED is an awesome feature as we are alway DIY’er s in dark areas of the home.

I would highly recommend this to any profession tradesmen or an AVAD “do it your selfer”!

4 Stars Nice Tool but VERY misleading reviews
Wanted a lightweight alternative to my Millwaukee 18V hammer drill, and this drill is very light. Plenty of power and the light is a nice touch. The problem lies with the impact driver. I thought that I could use this compact unit to drill holes in floor joists (I am an electrician). Unfortunately the impact driver is not made for drilling. I called Makita and they confirmed this. The product description does not describe the purpose of this tool, which is driving screws and lag bolts. That is it. It has one speed (fast) which can be controlled with the trigger but this is not easy to do. It runs too fast for any delicate driving tasks, and because of the impact drilling is out of the question. I should have bought a right angle drill instead. Live, spend money, and learn.

5 Stars Wow! What an incredible tool
I bought this combo after using it during a demo at Home Depot. I am shocked how well this technology works. The impact driver is my new best friend. It will sink 3 inch screws without stripping the heads because of how the unit works. It has tons more power than a normal drill when driving screws. I bought a 1/2″ socket adapter for it and used this unit do drive 1/2″ x 8″ and 3/4″ x 8″ lag screws into an oak tree for my treehouse. I broke one of the big sockets after driving about a dozen of the lag screws. I figured I needed to own impact sockets if I were to use to drive sockets. I wear hearing protection when using it for any length of time as the impact driver is noisy. This impact driver does everything better plus its very light. Speaking of light, the led on the Makita works better than the competitors because it stays on after you let go of the trigger. So you can tap it, get the flashlight to shine on the bit, and then drive it.

The drill is very nice as well. The lithium batteries work great, have a long run time, and charge quickly. After owning this for a year, i would like to now own an additional unit of the LXT which is the professional unit. Its a great unit and I feel its much, much nicer than the other brands.
