DeWalt DC9091 XRP 14 4 Volt 2 4 Amp Hour NiCad Pod Style Battery

41s5 ujDG7L. SL75 DeWalt DC9091 XRP 14 4 Volt 2 4 Amp Hour NiCad Pod Style Battery

Step up to the extra power of the DeWALT14.4-volt XRP battery pack. This high-capacity NiCad (nickel cadmium) battery delivers 40 percent more run time than standard NiCads. That means you can work longer—drive more screws, bore more holes—and spend less time swapping out and recharging batteries.

The XRP pack, which stands for eXtended Run-time Performance, will fit all of DeWALT’s 14.4-volt cordless tools and chargers, except its Univolt tools. Finally, remember to recycle your old batteries. –Joseph Truini

4 Stars Dewalt 14.4 volt battery
The price for these batteries was very reasonable compared to the full price. I would recommend these to anyone needing new 14.4 volt Dewalt batteries.

These XRP batteries are a lot better than the original battery if your drill was made after about 1999. My original batteries only lasted about 3-4 years on my new drill (purchased 2004). I have a Dewalt 14.4V I bought in 1994 and still use the original batteries. One word of caution, the XRP batteries will not fit in the older drill case whether on or off the drill because they are larger. The older case has a more molded appearance on the inside and is double wall plastic.

5 Stars DeWalt 14.4v NiCad replacement battery
I was disappointed in the DeWalt 14.4 volt batteries that came with my drill/driver. When one totally died during a project I sent my wife out to get a replacement battery. She returned with a NiCad version which I loved. It holds a charge extremely well and lasts much, much longer between charges. I was so impressed that I got a second one and recycled my remaining (operable) original battery. It makes using the drill much more practicle.

5 Stars DeWalt Battery
There’s not much to say it’s a battery, but so far it seems to be working great

5 Stars Great power, high output
Bought a set of DeWalt tools, which included two XRP 14.4v batteries and a charger over four years ago. I didn’t really use the set much until the last two years, when I suddenly had a couple of backyard projects. These batteries pack quite a charge, and provides plenty of power and duration, especially for the reciprocating saw and trim saw. Unfortunately, last weekend one of the batteries died out and wouldn’t take a charge anymore (it’s been on the wane for a couple months before that). I’m hoping the other one will continue to work, but now I’m stuck with only one working battery. I came nowhere near the advertised 1,200 charge/discharge cycles, so that was disappointing.

I’ve had these units for more than four years, so I can’t complain about one dying. While I agree that these batteries are excellent, and should be priced accordingly, I’m not sure they need to be quite that expensive. There are companies that’ll rebuild the battery pack, typically with longer-lasting sub-C cells, for less than the cost of a new one (but admittedly not by much). Based on trade reviews, the rebuilds either meet or exceed specifications, and I’m leaning that way not so much for the cost savings, but for the extended runtime.

So, in summary, these are absolutely great batteries. The NiCad technology is proven, dependable, and is suited well for high drain devices such as power tools. However, given the relative cost and simplicity of manufacturing a unit, you should be able to get more performance for less from a reputable battery rebuilder.

EDIT (12/04/2009): Bought a DeWalt DC9310 charger DeWalt DC9310 Heavy-Duty 7.2 Volt – 18 Volt 1 Hour Charger to replace DC9116 charger. The DC9310 was able to charge the dead DC9091 to ~12 volts consistently, indicating two dead cells. Battery is now usable again, but at 12 volts. While not ideal, it was good enough for me to effectively operate all the tools, thus extending the life of the battery.

4 Stars pretty good
Good drill driver, 14v is better than 12… You will notice that when you release the trigger in 2nd

speed(only 2nd) that it grinds to a stop. That is normal according to a Dewalt repair tech I showed to in person.

This thing drives good, a bit better than the 12v, and drills good, I use 2nd speed for drill even though they say use speed 1 in manual. Is a bit shorter than my old 12v but is a bit heavier too. But ok.Worth 135$. Too bad the Panasonics are so stupidly overpriced.

4 Stars Nice drill for the money
Overall I would recommend this product to anyone needing a quality drill but does not require the extra power of an 18V unit on a daily basis. As a result of not being an 18V unit, it is substantially less bulky and easier to handle in tighter corners. Dual batteries is nice in that you can be charging one while the other is in use — something I had to do very frequently during a recent home renovation.

5 Stars Great Product
Shipped faster than expected and is powerful, light weight, and just all around a great buy

4 Stars carry case design
The drill itself is performing very well. It’s the DeWalt carry/storage case that needs improvement. My previous drill was a Makita, its carry/storage case had room inside for me to store a 35 piece drill driver set in its own hard case. This allowed me to grab the drill in its case and go, without having to remember to carry the drill driver set separately like I have to now with the DeWalt. The DeWalt case is actually larger than the Makita, but there is too much space wasted on plastic molding. The interior space could easily be reconfigured to accommodate a case for drills/drivers.

5 Stars Dewalt Drill/Driver
I have several DeWalt tools. I consider them to be industeral stringth. I also have another 14.4 drill older model. This model defently outpreforms my older model. Its also more compact. Good tool.

Product works as good or better than the original. If your original NiCad requires frequent recharging you need to get a new one.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Excellent purchase
Great combo of tools. Small but tough. All sorts of uses. Great battery life. Have used it tons already. A must-have for the do-it-yourselfer.

4 Stars A lightweight alternative to higher voltage cordless tools.
I would not trade in my old 18 volt Milwaukee cordless tools, but there are many times I need to get in a tight space or just don’t need the extra power (with the extra weight that goes along with it). This set is great for that. The lithium ion batteries are great in that they have the gauge, but when they quit that is it. With the old NiCads you could get that last screw in maybe w/o having to grab another battery.
