I am interested in purchasing the VTech® LS6117 DECT 6.0 Digital Cordless Phone from Office Depot for , and I was wondering if the base unit plugs in to a regular phone jack, and the handset itself is wireless? I’m lost, haha. Easy 10 points!

I’m looking for a 5.8 GHz digital cordless phone system with an answering machine. One handset will do but seeing that my old one just conked out 2 Handsets may be better. I thought I was set on a Panasonic phone but then started looking at Uniden. Now I’m overwhelmed at which brand is best! Can you help me out?

5 Stars A great cordless phone for not too much money
We bought this one to replace an old Radio Shack unit that was starting to wear out. Initially we were looking at a Panasonic unit that offered call blocking, a feature we wanted to stop those annoying telemarketing calls. After some searching I found this unit, which also offered the call blocking capability. After some serious comparison shopping we opted to go with this unit, which so far we have not regretted at all. It’s relatively easy to set up, although the directions leave a bit to be desired in my opinion. We bought an additional unit for this and all three remote units easily synched with the base unit. One unit did have a totally dead battery in it, but it quickly recharged after being left on the charger. We can’t begin to say how much we love the call blocking feature. It’s remarkably easy to add a number, either when it’s ringing or by searching through the call history. Suddenly our house is much quieter now and we can actually get some peace and quiet knowing this unit is stopping those pesky telemarketers. The one feature I wish it had is a lighted push to talk button. If you pick up the phone in the dark you can’t tell which button is the one to push to answer it, which can be kind of annoying if you’ve been woken up to answer the phone. While the keypad is lighted, it would be most helpful if the other buttons were as well. We’ve also found the battery to last a long time, which is refreshing given the fact that our old Radio Shack batteries were starting to wear out. Overall we’re very happy with this new unit and would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a phone that has lots of features, a good price, and nice styling.

5 Stars Great Value in a Cordless Phone
The DECT2185-3 cordless phone system, like most of Uniden’s phones offers the consumer great value for the money.

This phone set has a 70-name directory capacity with each handset having the same or different contacts (your option. It’s extremely versatile. Most manufacturers only offer a 50-capacity directory with all handsets sharing the same contacts.

Although the DECT 2185-3 includes 3 handsets, you can add an additional 3 for a total of 6. Each extra handset (DCX210) is a very reasonable $29.99 each.

Other plusses include excellent sound quality, 8 ringer tones, most of which are melodic–not harsh tones. If you want the Star Spangled Banner as your ring tone, this phone has it!. A lighted keypad and base and battery display are also included.

Only negative with this phone is that a larger LCD screen would make it even easier to read, especially for someone with visual impairment.

If you are looking for a cordless phone set that offers features as opposed to style, this is one to consider.

5 Stars GREAT PHONE !!!!!!

I purchased this phone for my office and was very impressed with the quality and features. I don’t think you could get a better phone for twice the money!

4 Stars Speaker phone isn’t the greatest.
I’ve had this phone for over a year with no basic problems. The sound quality isn’t like a “real phone”… but I’m giving away my age here. I have had a few cordless phones with worse sound quality.

I would like to use the speaker phone setting so I could still work and move about while talking with my longer winded friends. Unfortunately, the slightest noise or movement in the room, on my end, will cut out what the other person is saying making it very hard to communicate . It may be a result of the electronics needed to operate in the speakerphone mode (similar to a voice activated recorder cutting off your first word). I don’t think this would work well with a bunch of folks sitting around, giggling and trying to talk with ol’ aunt Tilly in Des Moines. I’ve given up using it on speaker phone. If you really want the speaker phone feature this may not be a good performer for you. Otherwise, it’s been a good unit for the money.

3 Stars Speaker Phone Fucntion Did Not Work
Originally, I thought the phone was Great! A very nice model with all the features I needed at a price that was very reasonable. Unfortunately, the speaker phone function did not work. I ended up going with a Panasonic model instead. I have had many Panasonic phones in the past and while they are a more expensive they seem of higher quality.

2 Stars Short life span
I was very happy with the phone until it wend dead yesterday (Nov). I bought it in Jan this year. It has good features but a short life. Now I need to order a new phone…any recommendations.

5 Stars Excellent purchase for the money.
Works great, no problems, very reasonable (much cheaper than stores such as Walmart). Good buy, and highly recommended.

4 Stars Nice Phones
I replaced an older set of this same phone with this new set, the old ones were about 4 yeares old and started dropping calls on a regular basis, probably was battery failure, Hope this set last longer than that.

The phones are very nice and have plenty usefull features, big phone book, easy data retrival, a good buy.

5 Stars Nice phone system, great value
This phone system seems like it was easy to use right out of the box. It has all the features I need in a very compact and good looking package. It is really nice to be able to access all the features from anywhere in the house and all handsets are the same. Sound quality is very good. The only hard decision was how many handsets to get. 3 seems to work well for us.

5 Stars Ring Ring
I ordered this phone because I love to get telemarketing calls and I did not want to miss anymore. I truly enjoy the twice remove police and firefighter solicitation dude wanting me to send money so that they can buy new bullet proof vests or have new laquer put down on their dance floor. I have used my phones to listen to the blind people selling light bulbs that last 75 years (I always order these), credit card pushers, phone companies, time shares…you name it. But was I in for a shock when I plugged these babies in the wall. I first turned them on and had to leave to go to work. When I came home, I had 723 messages! I was beside myself. I quickly ran to the bathroom to get the hemorhoid cream and came back to listen with eager ears. Oh the sweet sound of strangers wanting to talk to me about what they are selling. I had truly hit the jackpot…but wait…the phone rang…I cautiously approached one of the units and raised it…it said UNKNOWN NUMBER…perfect I thought. I pressed the answer button and raised the heavenly device to my ear. It was a pleasant sounding young woman who perfectly misspronounced my name…gold…I had hit gold. I answered her questions and SHAZAM, I had won $33 Million Dollars! When I came to, the golden receiver was back in it’s holster…waiting. RING, again I had won $18 Million Dollars! Since that day, I have won over $445 Million Dollars! Every ring’s a winner! This phone has changed my life. I can now afford all the hemorhoid cream and cat food that I will ever need. Ring Ring…it’s for you…

4 Stars Panasonic Phones Review
Phones are sturdy, great battery life so far (~2-3 months old and can go days between charges with regular use), and are pretty easy to use. Didn’t need a lot of features, just a solid rated phone that will last. This set is it at a great price.

4 Stars First phone in 8 years
Nothing special in this review. Did some research for a good handset family and found this one. Setup was simple. The sound quality is not too bad. It is not great, but good enough. My favorite part is that only one handset requires setup. After that, all handsets added to the set adopt those settings.
