5 Stars A great cordless phone for not too much money
We bought this one to replace an old Radio Shack unit that was starting to wear out. Initially we were looking at a Panasonic unit that offered call blocking, a feature we wanted to stop those annoying telemarketing calls. After some searching I found this unit, which also offered the call blocking capability. After some serious comparison shopping we opted to go with this unit, which so far we have not regretted at all. It’s relatively easy to set up, although the directions leave a bit to be desired in my opinion. We bought an additional unit for this and all three remote units easily synched with the base unit. One unit did have a totally dead battery in it, but it quickly recharged after being left on the charger. We can’t begin to say how much we love the call blocking feature. It’s remarkably easy to add a number, either when it’s ringing or by searching through the call history. Suddenly our house is much quieter now and we can actually get some peace and quiet knowing this unit is stopping those pesky telemarketers. The one feature I wish it had is a lighted push to talk button. If you pick up the phone in the dark you can’t tell which button is the one to push to answer it, which can be kind of annoying if you’ve been woken up to answer the phone. While the keypad is lighted, it would be most helpful if the other buttons were as well. We’ve also found the battery to last a long time, which is refreshing given the fact that our old Radio Shack batteries were starting to wear out. Overall we’re very happy with this new unit and would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a phone that has lots of features, a good price, and nice styling.
5 Stars Great Value in a Cordless Phone
The DECT2185-3 cordless phone system, like most of Uniden’s phones offers the consumer great value for the money.
This phone set has a 70-name directory capacity with each handset having the same or different contacts (your option. It’s extremely versatile. Most manufacturers only offer a 50-capacity directory with all handsets sharing the same contacts.
Although the DECT 2185-3 includes 3 handsets, you can add an additional 3 for a total of 6. Each extra handset (DCX210) is a very reasonable $29.99 each.
Other plusses include excellent sound quality, 8 ringer tones, most of which are melodic–not harsh tones. If you want the Star Spangled Banner as your ring tone, this phone has it!. A lighted keypad and base and battery display are also included.
Only negative with this phone is that a larger LCD screen would make it even easier to read, especially for someone with visual impairment.
If you are looking for a cordless phone set that offers features as opposed to style, this is one to consider.

5 Stars GREAT PHONE !!!!!!
I purchased this phone for my office and was very impressed with the quality and features. I don’t think you could get a better phone for twice the money!
4 Stars Speaker phone isn’t the greatest.
I’ve had this phone for over a year with no basic problems. The sound quality isn’t like a “real phone”… but I’m giving away my age here. I have had a few cordless phones with worse sound quality.
I would like to use the speaker phone setting so I could still work and move about while talking with my longer winded friends. Unfortunately, the slightest noise or movement in the room, on my end, will cut out what the other person is saying making it very hard to communicate . It may be a result of the electronics needed to operate in the speakerphone mode (similar to a voice activated recorder cutting off your first word). I don’t think this would work well with a bunch of folks sitting around, giggling and trying to talk with ol’ aunt Tilly in Des Moines. I’ve given up using it on speaker phone. If you really want the speaker phone feature this may not be a good performer for you. Otherwise, it’s been a good unit for the money.
3 Stars Speaker Phone Fucntion Did Not Work
Originally, I thought the phone was Great! A very nice model with all the features I needed at a price that was very reasonable. Unfortunately, the speaker phone function did not work. I ended up going with a Panasonic model instead. I have had many Panasonic phones in the past and while they are a more expensive they seem of higher quality.
2 Stars Short life span
I was very happy with the phone until it wend dead yesterday (Nov). I bought it in Jan this year. It has good features but a short life. Now I need to order a new phone…any recommendations.
5 Stars Excellent purchase for the money.
Works great, no problems, very reasonable (much cheaper than stores such as Walmart). Good buy, and highly recommended.

5 Stars Better than other DECT phones
It shows up CID right after the first ring, while the Panasonic does it after two rings. The Uniden 2080 does not show caller’s name even if the CID is already in the phone book, while my Uniden 1560-2 does! Panasonic is the worst, it scrolls the name and then the phone #; plus, as I just said, it takes one more ring to get CID. When you finally see the caller’s #, it is too late, the answering machine is activated.
Although I like the idea of normal AAA NiMH batteries, Panasonic stupidly force them to be charged in the stock charger only. If you put a pair of fully charged batteries into the Panasonic, it keeps saying (via voice) “charge it for 7 hours”, until you put the handset into the charger for a while. This defeats quite the point, you still cannot charge the batteries and swap them.
This Uniden uses a battery pack, but the battery chamber is huge (designed for AA). I bought an AAA battery holder from RadioShack and, after some modifications, put it into the handset. Now I can swap NiMH batteries and never have to put the handset back into the charger. Love it. You cannot do this with Uniden 2080 that has a very small battery chamber.
Sound is loud and clear. The Panasonic has annoying background noise. Oh, you’ll love the big transparent back-lit keys with superb tic arc feel and the letters are printed underneath – they won’t wear out. The rubber key bars on 2080 are garbage.
Some other features worth of mentioning: you can copy phone book entries from one handset to other handsets. You can inte’com or page any or all other handsets and transfer or conference a call. You can make calls private to other handsets. You can assign 8 personal rings for different callers. Voicemail indicator and button, pause button, mute button, speakerphone button and redial 5 numbers.
If you don’t need the answering machine, the Uniden 1560-2 sold for $29.99 from your local HomeDepot stores is a steal. If you need more than 2 handsets, you can buy two 1560-2. You can also use any DCX150, DCX200 and DCX300 handsets, but each cost $30. Although you can use 2080’s handsets on 1560, they still won’t show caller’s name that’s already in phone book. You can register a handset to multiple bases; so there is no problem to use two or more 1560-2 for a single line (i.e, extra bases are used as chargers only). If you like, you can use them like multi-line phones which are very expensive.
The only thing missing is headset jack, which I don’t care but may turn down some people. One other concern is durability. My 900MHz Uniden just died after a year of light use. That’s why I’m in this market and this time I looked at the Panasonic first.
4 Stars Exceptional Sound Quality with Ok Construction
The sound quality is exceptional. The phone and base construction is ok, not as substantial as older Uniden and Panasonic phones, but the sound quality and features more than make up for this deficit. In this price range, you are getting a very good phone.
5 Stars We’re Very Pleased.
Electronic items never cease to amaze me. Our widescreen TV is only four years old and a better model of the same size now lists for about half of our original cost. Likewise with phones. We bought a two-station Vtech cordless phone about 4 years ago for 80 bucks. When the batteries needed replacement after two years, they cost over a third of what the original phone (with batteries) had cost! Well, the batteries needed replacement again. This time we looked around and found this new Uniden Phone System (DECT1580-2) for only a little more than what new batteries for the old Vtech phone would cost. Simply amazing! Well, we tossed the old phone, of course, although it would probably still work well given new batteries. Now the next question might be whether this was the right thing to do.
This Uniden phone works fine. Everything about it seems better than our old Vtech wireless phone. Plus, it has an answering machine and the old one didn’t. It clearly seems to be a superior phone in every way and the cost was markedly less. Now, the next test will be to see how it holds up on a long-term basis. So far, we’re very pleased with our new wireless phone.

4 Stars Nice phones for good price
Compared to other phones with the same characteristics, these phones have a very good price, but they do have a couple of problems.
I do get a bit of interference depending on how “far” I am from the base, which should be normal if I lived in a big house, but not in my case which is a medium sized apartment.
Another bad thing, compared to Panasonic for example, is that each phone is independent with it’s caller id and phonebook: if you add a phone number on one, you have to manually copy it to the other phone, or if you view missed calls on one phone’s caller id, they will remain on the other phone and you’ll have to erase them again.
The last problem worth mentioning is that the speakerphone sometimes dies. I haven’t figured out what really happens, but the sound sometimes just mutes, and after you move the phone it’ll sound again. I don’t think it’s a cable or something loose, because it happens with both phones.
Features are nice, answering device is nice.
1 Star Worst phone
I purchase one of these phones and I only got it to work once sive that time it get on searching for the based. None of he steps in the booklet work. this is an terrible buy

5 Stars Great Small Office System
We have 4 offices, a break room and a reception area in our office suite so we needed a wireless system that fairly simple to use. We have been using this system for about a month and it has been great. We have intercom between our conference room, office and reception; voice announcements for incoming calls and broadcast calling if we need it. We have used the message system as our phone provider does this for us. So far we are very happy we purchased this system.
5 Stars Lots of features and easy to use
I had the older version and this one is even better. Nice sound and good features. I am glad I bought it
4 Stars KX-TG4500B
Panasonic 5.8 Ghz 4-Line FHSS Expandable Cordless Phone System with Call Waiting Caller Id and Answering System (KX-TG4500B)
We are a small company with basic phone and voicemail needs. The voice quality and range seems very good. Voice mail and auto-attendant features are adeqate, but very confusing to set up.
I would recommend, with the answering system caveat.
5 Stars What’s not to like?
Cordless + 4 lines + inexpensive = good.
Most four line systems are much more expensive, and not as easy to use. Setting this thing up with 5 extra handsets was a breeze!
1 Star Good while it lasted
Fine product, works as designed…
Died after 26 months – April 2007 – June 2009 RIP
Tragically short lifespan. Symptoms, phone lights would flash and one could not receive calls. Resetting phone periodically worked for a few weeks, and one day, sob, it could not be revived!
