User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars Decent phone.
A decent enough phone. Caller ID works fine, phone sound quality is good. It goes through batteries faster than I would like. I just dropped it and broke it, and am buying another.

4 Stars GREAT LANDLINE
This is a great phone, but I ordered it twice in white and received black phones. Okay with me because it matched, but it may not make others happy.

Uniden DXAI8560 2 5 8 GHz Digital Caller ID Cordless Phone with One Extra Handset Cradle

518BWoFJunL. SL75 Uniden DXAI8560 2 5 8 GHz Digital Caller ID Cordless Phone with One Extra Handset Cradle

Boasting 5.8GHz extended range technology, the Uniden DXAI8560-2 Digital Caller ID Cordless Phone makes it easy and fun to stay in touch with friends and family. Packed with advanced features, this user-friendly phone includes an extra handset/cradle and belt clip for hands-free calling.

The DXAI8560-2 is extremely easy to use, thanks to the trilingual language support and time-saving options. First, the display clearly shows the name and number of the caller in call waiting, even while you’re on the phone. (Note: to activate the caller ID features, you must first subscribe through your telephone company.) There’s also an easy-to-see voicemail waiting indicator to help ensure that you don’t miss an important message, backlit keypad for quick and easy dialing in all kinds of light conditions, and the option to view stored numbers during a call. Ten speed-dial locations save you even more time, and the “Find Handset” locator key immediately locates a lost handset. Finally, this desk or wall mountable phone is both headset and hearing aid compatible, and includes a convenient volume control.

About Uniden 5.8GHz phones
Uniden 5.8GHz phones operate on the higher end of the frequency spectrum, providing greater range and less interference than standard 2.4GHz phones. Uniden 5.8GHz digital FHSS (Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum) technology secures privacy while providing longer range and crystal clear sound. 5.8GHz frequencies often escape most wireless interference, including most Wi-Fi networks, resulting in a cleaner and clearer signal, and unlike many other 5.8GHz phones, Uniden TRU series phones both transmit and receive in 5.8GHz.

The DXAI8560-2 is backed by a one-year limited warranty.

User Ratings and Reviews

2 Stars Missing some key features
I work from home frequently and wanted to use this phone for my conference calls. But within just a day of usage I have found the following limitations:

- The volume control has only 3 options “Low”, “Medium”, and “High”. That’s not good enough when even on the “Low” setting the volume is really loud. The phone screams! And if you are on speaker, you want to muffle the sound by covering with your hand otherwise you will be waking up the neighbors :)

- To add to the above agony, there is no “mute” feature. So when your family yells back at you to lower the volume, everybody hears the yelling.

4 Stars Uniden cordless phone
very pleased with this phone, the double handset is a blessing when you can’t find the other when the phone is ringing very good reception and the speaker phone is great when checking messages

1 Star DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE
This is the worst phone I’ve ever owned. I was about to just get rid of my land line because of this phone. This phone has minimal range. It frequently drops calls much worse than any cell phone! I pity the guy who gave a review and talked about doing conference calls with this phone. He fortunately submitted a followup to his review agreeing that this phone is awful. I would never use this phone for an important phone call. I finally purchased a Panasonic KX-TGA740 and am VERY happy.

1 Star a huge step backwards
Extreme static when I could get the phones to turn on or “connect.” Missed a lot of calls because the phone would NOT turn on when it was too close to the base. You can not use both handsets at once, so if you need to switch handsets to continue a call on another handset, you’re out of luck. Broken dial tone and slower than molases dialing! Bad speaker in one handset sounding like it was behind the key pad instead of the earpiece, sounded like talking into a plastic box. This also amplified the sound allowing both sides of the conversation to be heard by others.

5 Stars Uniden DXAI8560-2 5.8 GHz
Uniden DXAI8560-2 5.8 GHz Needed to buy 2 handsets, they work well and the sound quality is much better than the previous ones that I had.

1 Star Tamie
I have had 3 of these phones the screen keeps going out. The first one just froze to a white screen could reset it but unplugging it for about and hour. Then it stop working altogether. The second one the screen looked like multi color lines running though the screen, could not be reset at all. And now the third one just did the same thing with the lines going through the screen this time i have only had it about 6 weeks. I love the idea but GE just can’t pull it together. I will return it again and get a plain phone a stand alone picture frame. DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS

4 Stars Nice, Decorative telephone
This telephone could be better if it had at least one more feature such as speakerphone, the sound quality is good and there is no interference, it’s a little complicated to setup, but once I found out how to do it,it’s ok.The frame has low resolution, but still is ok,the only problem is when you transfer pictures from the memory card to the internal memory, you have to do one by one and the same to delete.Overall it’s a good telephone and looks beautiful over my desk and a week latter I bought one more for my kitchen

5 Stars GE PhotoPhone
The Phone is just great, love the fact I can see my pictures all the time, and the features of having a picture pop up showing who is calling is very nice, we Love It!!!

4 Stars good deal for the price
I’ve had this phone for about 6 months now.

For about $35, this wouldn’t be a bad deal just for a digital photo frame. For the phone also, this is a very good deal. The nice thing about the photo/phone integration is that when there is an unknown caller, it puts a large “UNKNOWN” image on the screen which you can see from across the room. Very handy to not need to get close enough to read the caller ID to avoid the telemarketers.

I have not had any issues with static on the phone. I have had a few JPG’s that showed the “DISPLAY ERROR” problem described in some of the other reviews. I never figured out what it was about the JPG’s that showed this issue. (Fortunately this only happened with some pictures a friend sent me and was never a problem on any pictures I took on my own. I did not spend too much time on it, but I never figured out the problem. It was easier to delete the handful of pictures that would not display and move on.)

If you want a basic phone and inexpensive photo frame, go for it. The phone does not have much in the way of features, but it works fine for what it is.

4 Stars All but one thing…
This phone/frame is terrific! I have only one, small, complaint. When mounted to the wall the screen sends a small amount of high pitched RFI feedback through the phone line. In experimenting I have learned that DSL filters and magnetic noise filters do not lessen this phenomena.

As soon as the phone base is an eighth of an inch or more away from the phone jack there is no noise whatsoever. Pending the availability of a solution I would recommend to most people to have this sitting freestanding on the table or counter top if they are particularly concerned with line noise.
