5 Stars Great battery
This battery is more than I expected. It has a higher ammount of amp hours(2.4) than the original and lasts much longer.I am pleasantly surprised.
2 Stars Doesn’t hold a charge
I tried to take care of the batteries for two years, by not leaving them in the charger for more than it took to charge them up, just charging them up when I used them, not over-discharging them. But they both stopped holding a charge after less than two years. When they’re new the drill works great.
5 Stars NiCad MUCH stronger than original
Nearly bought a new lithium ion drill-driver/flashlight kit but saved about $180 to rejuvinate what I thought was a hopeless situation. 10 year old Milwaukee 3/8″ drill-driver works as well as when new…even better with the 2.4 Amp battery. Originals died because I let run on flashlight until dead thinking I was ‘exersising’ it for longevity…but learning too late that method will ruin the battery. I have used occasionaly for 11 years, and hated to part with excellently performing drill and good flashlight. I purchase this battery as a last resort; charges on the original charger and seems to last 4x longer than the original battery (1.8 Ah). Pricey but worth it!
5 Stars Great Product
Nice OEM battery at a good price. Holds a good charge and recharges fast. Fast shipping was a plus
4 Stars Milwaukee 14.4 volt battery
This new battery works fine – now we just need to see how long it will last!
DeWalt DC9091 XRP 14 4 Volt 2 4 Amp Hour NiCad Pod Style Battery

Step up to the extra power of the DeWALT14.4-volt XRP battery pack. This high-capacity NiCad (nickel cadmium) battery delivers 40 percent more run time than standard NiCads. That means you can work longer—drive more screws, bore more holes—and spend less time swapping out and recharging batteries.
The XRP pack, which stands for eXtended Run-time Performance, will fit all of DeWALT’s 14.4-volt cordless tools and chargers, except its Univolt tools. Finally, remember to recycle your old batteries. –Joseph Truini

4 Stars Dewalt 14.4 volt battery
The price for these batteries was very reasonable compared to the full price. I would recommend these to anyone needing new 14.4 volt Dewalt batteries.

These XRP batteries are a lot better than the original battery if your drill was made after about 1999. My original batteries only lasted about 3-4 years on my new drill (purchased 2004). I have a Dewalt 14.4V I bought in 1994 and still use the original batteries. One word of caution, the XRP batteries will not fit in the older drill case whether on or off the drill because they are larger. The older case has a more molded appearance on the inside and is double wall plastic.
5 Stars DeWalt 14.4v NiCad replacement battery
I was disappointed in the DeWalt 14.4 volt batteries that came with my drill/driver. When one totally died during a project I sent my wife out to get a replacement battery. She returned with a NiCad version which I loved. It holds a charge extremely well and lasts much, much longer between charges. I was so impressed that I got a second one and recycled my remaining (operable) original battery. It makes using the drill much more practicle.
5 Stars DeWalt Battery
There’s not much to say it’s a battery, but so far it seems to be working great
5 Stars Great power, high output
Bought a set of DeWalt tools, which included two XRP 14.4v batteries and a charger over four years ago. I didn’t really use the set much until the last two years, when I suddenly had a couple of backyard projects. These batteries pack quite a charge, and provides plenty of power and duration, especially for the reciprocating saw and trim saw. Unfortunately, last weekend one of the batteries died out and wouldn’t take a charge anymore (it’s been on the wane for a couple months before that). I’m hoping the other one will continue to work, but now I’m stuck with only one working battery. I came nowhere near the advertised 1,200 charge/discharge cycles, so that was disappointing.
I’ve had these units for more than four years, so I can’t complain about one dying. While I agree that these batteries are excellent, and should be priced accordingly, I’m not sure they need to be quite that expensive. There are companies that’ll rebuild the battery pack, typically with longer-lasting sub-C cells, for less than the cost of a new one (but admittedly not by much). Based on trade reviews, the rebuilds either meet or exceed specifications, and I’m leaning that way not so much for the cost savings, but for the extended runtime.
So, in summary, these are absolutely great batteries. The NiCad technology is proven, dependable, and is suited well for high drain devices such as power tools. However, given the relative cost and simplicity of manufacturing a unit, you should be able to get more performance for less from a reputable battery rebuilder.
EDIT (12/04/2009): Bought a DeWalt DC9310 charger DeWalt DC9310 Heavy-Duty 7.2 Volt – 18 Volt 1 Hour Charger to replace DC9116 charger. The DC9310 was able to charge the dead DC9091 to ~12 volts consistently, indicating two dead cells. Battery is now usable again, but at 12 volts. While not ideal, it was good enough for me to effectively operate all the tools, thus extending the life of the battery.

5 Stars Battery
Battery works fine. Due to an error on my part, the battery is the wrong one for my drill. There are two 9.6 V batteries, one has retainer clips on it and one doesn’t. Be sure you get the right one.
4 Stars better than expected
I received a Makita label battery, not necessarily what I was expecting. Most of the replacement products available were “no-name”, and I was concerned that the specs and performance would not match the original. This battery works perfectly with the original charger and has plenty of power. Nice to have my drill gun back to peak performance.
1 Star dud
I received the correct battery however it was defective and would not charge. I have returned the battery and am waiting for a good replacement. So far customer service has been okay!
5 Stars Great working, hard to find battery
Bought my Makita drill/light combo when i started as a factory/dealer mechanic(12yrs). Dropped the one battery a few years ago and that was it for that taking a charge(junked it)limped along with one batt. saw this and thought why not. It shipped fast, packaged well, charged it and drained it 10 times with my flashlight. Now holds a great charge every time. Great experience buying this.
5 Stars Makita Drill Battery from Amazon
I have had my Makita drill for many years. Another replacement battery I purchased four yers ago was not made by Makita and it was expensive and of poor quality and did not last very long. This battery, purchased fom Amazon, is made by Makita, of first class construction and very reasonably priced.

5 Stars VP110 batteries
Batteries were new and fresh, and cheaper than at my local Lowes or Home Depot.
5 Stars Very useful
Still very good – drives my old VersaPack screwdriver and cordless drill just fine – no need to upgrade for smaller jobs around the house, the newer models aren’t much better…
4 Stars Seems fine so far!
Seems to be a lot better than the regular batteries – hold a charge much longer. I’m ready to buy another set.
5 Stars a very satified customer
this is my first purchase with amazon I am going to buy other items in the future
4 Stars Batteries are good, but most chargers are not
I do not use my equipment with these batteries very often. I had found that they did not last many charges. When I opened up one of the standard chargers, I found that there is no circuitry to shut down the charging when the batteries are fully charged; the voltage supplied is not even pure DC. It is a wonder the batteries last as long as they do. I am using a different charger now and I expect much better life. It is nice to have a few batteries that several tools will use.
Porter Cable 8823 19 2 Volt 2 0 Amp Hour NiCad Slide Style Battery

5 Stars As Good As It Gets
I Own A Porter Cable 19.2 Volt R9913 With 2 R9992 NiCad Battery Packs. This Is By Far One Of The Best. I Have Built 2 Decks That I Could Put 300 2 Inch Screws In Without A Problem. This Drill Has Been Used On The Weekends For 9 Years Without A Problem. As Kick A** A Drill It’s Been, Without A Problem, A Hundred Bucks For A New Battery Is Enough To Switch To Another Brand Who Does Not Feel Like Taking Advantage Of Me After The Fact.
5 Stars Don’t replace your battery until you check this…
My 8823 batteries started having charging problems and one acted as though the contacts to the charger were bad (intermittent). I unscrewed the battery’s cover and discovered the orange wire had broken at the contact. Resoldering this wire (probably part of the battery internal charge/overtemp sensor) repaired the charging problem. This was a problem on BOTH my batteries so it points to a design weakness. Before you drop 100 bucks, check this first.
Oh, yeah… I’ve owned these batteries for five years of good service, so I think I should rate them a 5. I’m sure they don’t give a full “new-life” service any longer, but I recall ni-cad batteries should begin to give up in three years or so (I’m not an expert). I’ve had good luck with Porter Cable products–both battery and corded (routers, sanders, drills).
1 Star same thing here
I’m very disappointed about the battery performance. I have been using my drill for 3 years and I already changed the motor one time. Now, I needed new batteries but the price is way too much. Bye-bye Portal cable, I’ll never buy your tools again.
2 Stars Design flaws ruin it
haysee74 is exactly right. I’ve owned the combo tiger saw and drill pack for several years now, although I’ve never used the drill. It’s seen very occasional use, and has performed ok. But now the soldered fuse in my charger is blown, and I’m not going to spend $90 for a new one. Porter Cable would be fine if it weren’t for the design flaws – that seem intentional.
5 Stars unfair reviews
I’ve had this system for over five years, and only now one of my two batteries is beginning to lose performance. Mine get moderate use, I’m not a pro, but use mine fairly consistently. when not in use they alternate sitting on the charger. I use my delta (same as pc) 14.4 drill much less, and let one battery sit on the drill for several months without use, while the other sat on the charger. Guess what, the one that sat dead on the tool is now shot and I’ve had that system for less time, maybe 3-4 years, the other 14.4 that I kept on the charger is fine. So, I suspect some of the one-star weekend warrior reviews may be due to the user not keeping the batteries on the charger, leaving them on the tool for weeks/months at a time. Like one reviewer has indicated, it is no different than car batteries, anybody who has ever had a riding mower or recreational vehicle that gets parked for several months knows that the batteries never last compared to ones that get regular use and stay charged.
